Well probably not. But I can hardly remember all the games I played 20 years ago xD I choose Barbarian cause I always was a big fan of horror and splatter stuff ^^ This was the first game (I think) where I was like "holy shit! That's so brutal, it's awesome!" I use to play it for hours on my Apple II system. ;D

I have to agree with Darth about Wolfenstein, it was probably the first fps and by now i would guess there's about 1,000 shooters out there now.

Yea I thought about Wolf 3D (1992) too. But then again I was influenced by games befor that. Btw, did you know that Wolfenstein 3D wasn't the first Wolfenstein? There was a Castle Wolfenstein (1981) for the Apple II, Apple Dos, Commodore 64 and Atari 800. Also Wolfenstein 3D wasn't the very first fps. There still was Hovertank 3D (1991) and Catacomb 3-D (1991).

I'd have to agree with PoPSkenny on Doom. For the time of 1993, it was a milestone in the history of first-person shooters. In fact, it was so popular that people working on their computers at work were choosing to play Doom instead of working. Despite of the game's popularity, it also had a huge variety of controversial issues, but thanks to blood-thirsty fans like us, we can avoid the law banning games at all costs. XD

Well first off I wanna say Hi to all you guys, and since this will be my first post in this here forum of yours I'll try to make it as something special! I have to say that the most influential video game of all time in my opinion is Donkey Kong (Arcade). Not only did it shake up the Industry back then for being such a dramatic change from all the space shooters that were only available in arcades but it single handedly revived the interest in videogames for a lot of people, I mean it is still a pretty popular game today, heck there's a movie about it! Second to that I guess, would be Super Mario Bros. on the NES/Famicom, the concept was so fresh and original back then that nobody can deny that that sole game pretty much inspired the majority of games to come, even today the concepts introduced back then are still being used today. As for Wolfenstein and Doom, though Wolfenstein was the first real First Person Shooter, I have to give the nod to Doom (and not just because Paul is here), it featured immense (for it's time) maps, great sound and visuals (again, for it's time) and innovative design; it practically created the FPS genre that currently plagues the Industry. Long live Doom! And honorable mention would be Super Mario 64 as well; being the only real 3D space game available back then, every single 3D game to come were, and still are, directly inspired by the technological and creative talent found in Mario 64. ;D
